| Things have been going well since I broke my leg back in Feb, 2006. On Monday, Dec 10, My Doctor. removed the steel reinforcements in my leg, and I am once again on the way to recovery. I should be skiing gently by the end of Janurary. You can see more details here.
I flew back to WV for Thanksgiving and spent the holiday with my Mom and Charlie. While I was back I visited my grandfather, and a few of my few friends left in the Charleston area. I didn't make it up to the river or Fayette Co. this year. I really wanted to make it back for Gauley season, but I just couldn't do it this year. I did manage to get in a couple of days of deer season in Roane Co. My friend Kent invited me up to his in-laws place between Clendennen and Spencer. I saw quite a few does, but I didn't get a shot at a buck...maybe next year.
In April of 2006 I purchased a Vermeer 252 stump cutting machine and continued my adventure in the tree care industry. I started a new company under the name "Arbor Right Tree" and began solicitiong other small tree companies for business. My goal being to have all or most of my stump removals contracted to me. My plan worked, I stayed busy all summer and fall, up until the first big snow. I managed to pay off the stump cutter in a few months and purchase a new(used) work truck. Things are looking great going into spring '07.
On Laborday weekend, I ended up at Strawberry resivor, about 75 mi. from SLC. Sat. Night I went out on my freind Doug's drift boat and caught some lake trout right at dusk. Sunday I went on a 40 mi. mt. bike ride from Strawberry to Diamond fork hotsprings. We paused for a quick dip in the 100 degree water, then cruised on down then back up some 2000' to the resivor.
The weekend after Laborday, my friends
and I took a trip down to Zion, UT. for some camping and hiking. On sunday we hiked Orderville canyon, a tribitary of the Narrows. Near the top the trees were in full fall color.Unfortunately, the organizer of the trip failed to mention we were hiking a slot canyon in sometimes 7' - 8' of cold water. My camera drowned in one of these pools of water, so all of the pics are before we reached the wet section of the hike.
On Monday, we took an ATV tour and cruised around the trails and roads surrounding The Ponderosa Ranch, where we stayed. Unfortunately my camera was out of commission for that excursion.
